Adapted yoga :

Yoga is firstly for individual growth but through this growth our society  and community develop . BKS Iyengar.

This concept of personal growth in a community is what initially brought me to yoga. To be at one with myself allowing that connection with my community. Having been a teacher in schools for many years I needed the calm and self discovery offered to me by yoga.
However,  as a more curvy lady in my middle aged body with my own mental health battles,  I found it hard to accept what my body could and couldn’t do. Inspired by Brene Brown’s words of  “ being vulnerable is the ultimate act of courage ," I decided to challenge myself to become a yoga teacher. Passionate to share with others what yoga has given me. The journey was hard but I had the most wonderful teachers who held that space for growth.

My training was the first in the UK based on “ accessible yoga” and we focused elements of our study around how we can bring yoga to the under represented communities. Working with Allihopa yoga we met Rodrigo, a wheelchair user, who is the most humble and amazing yoga teacher. His words “ yoga is any form of conscious movement" have become my mantra and making yoga accessible to all has become my journey. Inclusion has always been my purpose for teaching and I’m excited to now bring this purpose into the yoga world .

As Sadhguru says “ Inclusiveness is that nature of existence. Separation is a temporary view caused by wrong identification.”
